Sixth Step: TV Events

TAM data is not comprised only of individual television viewing data, but also of a database of TV Events.
While the TAM data produced, using Pollux, from the information collected by the peoplemeter, provides individual-by-individual, minute-by-minute audience data, it does not associate this viewing with particular programmes. AGB Nielsen Media Research TV Events Suite produces programs, breaks and spot databases in a very efficient way.
Currently the TV Events Suite offers 3 modules:
- MultiGrabber is the digital capture module of television images, operated in a completely digital environment, avoiding the need of tapes and VCRs during the data entry phase. It fulfils the role of digital VCRs, which record and stores the audio/video database.
- Automatic Spot Recognition (ASR) is hosted on the Grabbers. The ASR engine scans in real time the emissions digitalised from the Grabbers and compares it to a ‘library of known spots’ and stores the results in a database of recognitions. ASR works with both video and audio algorithms, to maximise the level of recognition. This system is currently operational in more than 15 countries and supplies a 100% accurate spot database the day after.
- TelePad is the user interface of the AGB Nielsen Media Research TV Events system. It facilities the work flow of the events production, which includes: Data Entry, Editing, Cleaning (Quality Control) and Export. Its extreme flexibility allows for richness of detail, adaptation to all local realities and personalised quality control rules. Automatic ‘cleaning atoms’ ensure data coherency and accuracy.
