Fourth Step: The Polling
Polling is the process of transmitting the data from the peoplemeters to the central production center. In most cases between 02h00 and 06h00 daily, via the fixed telephone line from the home or utilising a GSM modem installed in the meter’s Transmission Unit.
Every night, the data stored in the memory of the online peoplemeter is retrieved ("Polled"), via telephone lines, cellular telephone networks or dedicated radio frequencies, using AGB Nielsen Media Research’s production software.
