Arianna is the analysis software created using The Nielsen Company’s in-depth TAM experience gained over more than 20 years.
Used in more than 30 countries across 4 continents, Arianna is the ultimate software suite for television
ratings analysis comprising Viewing Behaviour, Ratings Forecasting, Planning and Post-Evaluation modules.
Arianna is a PC based application combining impressive calculation speed, flexibility and sophisticated reporting
capabilities in a user-friendly working environment.
Arianna offers a complete collection of analysis modules in three TAM areas:
-
Viewing Behaviour: for the analysis of programs, breaks and dayparts.
-
Post Evaluation: for the evaluation of advertising campaigns.
-
Forecasting, Planning and Optimisation: for forecasting future spot ratings and future campaign planning.

All three areas share a wide array of variables, from the basic Ratings, Reach and Share to the most sophisticated
Flow in/Flow out, Average Time Viewed, Median Age and Adhesion.
Key Features
Arianna’s key features are designed to deal with any reality within the dynamic and ever evolving media environment.
Flexibility
- Flexibility is a fundamental characteristic of Arianna given its requirement to fulfil a range of needs as a truly global tool.
- Highly configurable and multi-language compatible.
- Able to run analyses on multiple sets of data from different countries or panels all in the same workspace.
- Free layout definition for multiple reports creation.
Unique Environment
- Users can concurrently access any of the TAM analysis areas (Viewing Behaviour, Forecasting, Planning and Post Evaluation).
Cross-Area Analyses
- Freedom to move between Viewing Behaviour, Forecasting, Planning and Post Evaluation
analyses for complete and in-depth investigation of the same or diverse events (spot, program etc) in one or more markets.
Groups
- The same target Groups appear throughout Arianna.

Arianna’s Common Features
A single and unique workspace with harmonised interfaces and icons makes data browsing and analysis more intuitive and user-friendly.
Reports can be created from analyses in any TAM area.
All domain groups (channels, targets, dates etc) can be saved and shared horizontally within any Arianna module to
the three TAM analysis areas. At the same time, the AWS Manager and Portability enables the sharing of Arianna
workspaces and reports between users, thus allowing workspaces to be shared over the Internet or saved in shared folders.
Arianna reporting is presented in a powerful, interactive and totally flexible grid. The user can adjust the display
of results, freely exchanging row and column content. Separated pages grouped by single or double domains can divide the display.
Prompt conclusions about the importance of a particular item are feasible due to the highlighting of the grid’s strongest figures.
A common software platform for all areas provides a link between modules. Using ‘Click&Go’, the selected part of the
report can be smoothly presented in other modules to show another dimension of the analysed data. The bridge between programs and
commercial spots can now be used by analysing events and commercials in one report.
‘Click&Go’ also provides in-depth analysis of a competitive situation. Arianna’s Delta feature can be used for
calculations of different values between custom periods (programs or dayparts) as defined by the user. Delta columns and rows
can be enabled from the layout filter and applied to all domains except for variables or directly from the result grid.
Task Scheduler allows the user can freely schedule the production of reports and graphs at a given time on specific days without
further intervention. This functionality greatly facilitates the generation of analyses, such as overnight and extensive reports.
In addition to generating predefined reports and graphs, Task Scheduler allows Arianna to automatically perform multiple tasks
simultaneously including report printing and export in various formats or email dispatch to predefined recipients.
By utilising Arianna’s Dynamic Targets the user can isolate and save targets based on television consumption for use in further
analysis. Targets can be defined based on their viewing habits, which may refer to a set of time-bands, events or campaigns
within a specific time period. No other tool is able to provide the flexibility and customisation options to build such targets.
By using the more sophisticated Co-Viewing and Solo Targets ratings can be calculated for a specified audience composition.
These new targets offer a more precise planning and post-evaluation approach to advertising campaigns with specific targets as well
as opening a new plane of viewing behaviour known as Social Viewing.
The integration of TGI targets in Arianna allows the user to create targets based on consumption habits and
demographic characteristics to evaluate audience viewing patterns following certain expenditure behaviour.
The revolutionary Arianna Graphics Module gives users the tool to graph virtually any numeric value visualised in the grids.
Accessed as a normal filter, the Graphic Module offers the analysis power of a truly innovative report by implementing
the latest technology integrated within Arianna. The user is also provided with a wide range of options to tailor the graphs to the analysis.
